Safari Addon Plugins for iPhone brings “Find in Page” feature and more…

by Simon Ng on December 15, 2008

iPhone’s Safari browser is by far the most sophisticated mobile browser that really brings the joyful web browsing experience to mobile phone. However, it’s still not perfect and misses some of the basic features on desktop counterpart like search for a word within web page.

As jailbreak iPhone user, you always got the privileges to power up any components on iPhone. iSpazio released a Safari Addon Plugin to bring additional functionality to Safari. One of the big features is “Find in Page” that allows you to do search within the web page you’re visiting.

To search for a word on a web page, open your bookmark. Tap “Find in this Page” and type in the text to search for. The search will take a few seconds and then all matched keywords are highlighted in yellow color.

In the heart of Safari Addon Plugin, it is actually a set of bookmarklets installed on Safari. Other than “Find in Page” bookmark, it also comes with COPY & PASTE bookmarklets that you can do copy & paste via Pastebud that has been covered in previous post. And, here is the complete list of bookmarks from Safari Addon Plugin:

  1. Find in this page: to search words within a web page
  2. COPY & PASTE: Copy & paste between Safari and Mail application via Pastebud
  3. Tabulate / Open in New Tab: To open link in new tabs
  4. Translate to English: Automatically translate the web page into English via Google Translate
  5. Image Search: Shortcut to search for images via Google Image Search
  6. Search in Wikipedia: Search for articles in Wikipedia
  7. Find Similar Sites: Search for similar sites via Google
  8. Dictionary: Check out the definition of a word or phrase using dictionary.com
  9. Display all images: Show only images of the web page you’re visiting
  10. iTransmoogrify: The 1st method to play flash videos in Safari

Safari addon is now available on Cydia for free download but it’s for jailbreak iPhone only.

Note: After you install Safari Addon, your existing bookmarks are replaced. You have to add them again.
