I have reviewed WifiToggle before, that it simply adds a Wifi Toggle switch to iPhone screen. It’s a very simple application but it saves me thousand of minutes to dig deep into Settings and just turn Wifi on/off (Hey, I used to turn off Wifi to save battery). For those who have upgraded and jailbreak to firmware 2.2, you may find this application is not no longer compatible with firmware 2.2 (at the time I wrote this post). Here comes to SBSettings to rescue. SBSettings from Cydia offers WifiToggle and even more.
As mentioned by the author, SBSettings is a full replacement of BossPrefs and it brings all important toggles (which may be hidden under Settings) directly into your iPhone Home Screen. Say, to turn off Wifi, normally you tap “Settings” ->”Wifi” -> On/Off. With SBSettings, this can just be done on iPhone home screen with an instant tap.
Unlike other normal iPhone applications, SBSettings does not come with an icon in iPhone. To launch SBSettings, you can swipe the status bar at the top or tap the status with two fingers. SBSettings will be brought out and displays you with all the available toggles. By default, you can toggle Wifi, bluetooth, EDGE, 3G and SSH (if you have installed SSH). A green button means the service is turned ON, while a button in red indicates the service is disabled.
SBSettings also provides shortcut buttons to power off iPhone and lets you control the brightness of screen. When you have Wifi-connected, it’ll show you the IP address. I find this is great especially when you need to connect your iPhone via SSH regularly.
What if you want to customize the toggle buttons appear in SBSettings? SBSettings also lets you control the toggles via a configuration screen. Just click “More” to launch the configuration screen. You can customize the toggles appear in SBSetting, as well as, the applications in the dock.

SBSettings even gives you flexibility to change its theme. I do not think a theme is necessary for SBSetting. You, however, can already a number of themes for SBSettings from Cydia and they are free for download.
SBSettings is only available in Cydia and designed for jailbreak iPhone. Like most applications in Cydia, SBSettings is free and it is compatible with iPhone 2.x. I highly recommend SBSettings if you want to bring toggles to iPhone Home Screen.

This application is exactly what I need, but I’m not using a jailbroken 2.2. Is there any legit application that does these things?
Yes. Good app. Worth installing.
Laura, probably not on App Store. You have to jailbreak your iPhone and enjoy the feature. For more information about the benefit of jailbreak, you can check out this post.

If this is a replacement for BossPrefs and the new toggle for yellowsn0w says it’s for use in BossPrefs then shouldn’t it work in SBSettings too?
For yellowsn0w toggle, at the mean time, it’s only available on BossPrefs.
Simon, your web site is a 5 star website.
Thanks for all.
What about customizing the location of each toggle?
i.g. Wifi toggle to be on the first row in the most left…
Please help raise this issue with the developers!
TIA
anyone knows where to download the SBsettings?
i tried to search it on cydia and cant seems to find it.
Probably you haven’t added the Bigboss repository source. Try to add this source and you’ll see SBSetting shows up.

Hi Simon,
I’m just naive and just started using the IPhone from last week. I read ur articles on advantage of jail breaking the iphone and installing cydia apps. I did it and Since last 2 days i’m trying to install Winterboard and SBSetting but not getting success installing it.
For some reason i coulnt able to Get internet of my Iphone and i tried installing application through Cyder. I installed few application like Cycoder, Snapture (Trial version), Winterboard, SBSetting and other few apps without having internet on Iphone. Initally none of the icon were getting displayed on springboard but after my few attempts i could be able to work my cycoder and snapture on my iphone.
However i’m still stucked with winterboard & SBSetting. I checked in Cydia that it gets displayed in Manage category in Cydia but there is no icon of winterboard on spreingboard. I made atleast 9 to 10 attempts to remove and reinstall it but nothing worked out. I installed Boss Pref then GUIcache and tried everything i can do but nothing worked out. It would be very kind of you if you can help me resolving the issue. Same with the SBSetting. I cant toggle it from status Bar.
Thanks in anticipation

Hi Paresh,
This is a guest poster – Just trying to give you a liiitttle bit of help to help you survive between now and when Simon comes to offer his expert advice.
Are you sure you followed all the instructions in Pwnage tool? If you aren’t sure you did, maybe you should restore your phone again with the original firmware (back it up before you do this, of course) and then restore it again with the custom firmware. After you re-jailbreak it, things should go fine.
With some of the issues you pointed out:
-I’m not sure how you managed to download and install applications like Cycorder and Snapture etc without a connection to the internet, but then again I’m also a fairly new user. But if you got these applications onto your phone without using a computer, there must be a connection to the internet somehow. Try opening native applications like ‘Maps’ and ‘Weather’ and see if they work fine. If they do, there is a connection to the internet. Perhaps your settings are such that no 3G sign or Wi-fi sign shows, but if you were downloading things, they must have come from somewhere.
-Also (and perhaps this is an unnecessary step) when you download and install any apps from Cydia, it might be helpful to power down the phone and start it up again. This is because the new applications might begin running minor tasks in the background, and all of this may, if you allow it to build up, cause Cydia to start crashing everytime you open it because there simply isn’t enought RAM left on the phone to run the app. When you start up afresh, the iPhone will automatically reassign the RAM to where it needs to go, and Cydia should run fine.
-There is no need to get ‘SBSetting’ AND ‘BossPrefs’. SBSetting does everything BossPrefs does and more, so it should suffice. It does for me, for the time being, at least.
-I don’t fully understand what you mean by being stuck with WinterBoard and SBSettings, but perhaps the issue in Winterboard is that you aren’t prioritising your custom selections properly? If you don’t arrange the custom themes etc in the order you want, they will interfere with each other in ways you aren’t expecting, and there may be no noticeable change in theme even though there is a tick beside them in the Winterboard app. Also, try not to select too many custom themes… some of them use a little bit of RAM as they operate, and it can add up to slow down your iPhone if you stack them. Concerning SBSettings, I’m not sure why it’s not being toggled from the status bar, but try deleting BossPrefs first and then trying it again.
Hope this helps somewhat until Simon comes to the rescue.
Happy iPhoning for the time being!
Hi LeGyare,
First, i would like to thank you for replying on my query. I appreciate your help that you extended me. Below are my point wise answer
1) MY GPRS is not working on iphone as IDEA carrier in India couldnt able to provide right configuration to be work on Iphone. So i really dont have internet connection working on my Iphone, However, what i did is, i googled how to install cydia apps without internet on iphone and found that through cyder i can install the apps on iphone using my laptop. I downloaded few apps like cycoder, winterboard, searcher etc into my laptop and then installed it in my iphone using Ifunbox. Somehow i managed to install apps like cycoder, searcher, isysinfo etc. But winterboard icon is not showing up in springboard.
2) I did the same thing as you mentioned in your point 2 i.e rebooting iphone once apps installed. No result for Winterboard
3) I installed SBSetting same way but it doesnt work too
4) What i mean when i say stucked with Winterboard and SBSetting is, i’m not getting the icon of this applications on Springboard. I can see them installed in Cydia manage category but icon is not getting displayed for springboard and same way i’m not getting SBSetting window by sliding finger on statusbar.
Below are my cydia apps that worked on my iphone that i installed using my laptop, cyder(its a software) & Ifunbox(Its a software).
1) Snapture
2) Cycoder
3) sysinfoPlus
4) Searcher
5) Rename
6) PdaNet
Below are the apps that i want to make it work
1) Winterboard
2) SBsetting
3) OpenSSh( I have installed it but did not tested it whether its working or not)
Once again thanks for your all effort and appreciate any further help to make this app working for me.
Regards
Paresh Patel
SBSettings is a wonderful application but it makes your iPhone 30 to 40% slower than without it. So I do not recommend anyone that is concerning with speed to use it…
Finally, i successfully installed winterboard and SBSetting. I didnt have updated version of Cydia n tats all cozing the problem. Its done and both apps works fine.
Can anyone suggest essential apps with its little brief intro from cydia that every iphone must have with.
Thanks,
Paresh Patel
