WARNING: Please don’t upgrade to iPhone 2.2 until iPhone Dev Team gives Green Light

by Simon Ng on November 17, 2008

iPhone firmware 2.2, which is still in Beta, is rumored to release in the coming Fri. However, for jailbreak iPhone users or who want to join the jailbreak party, please hold off even it is released. iPhone Dev Team, which is the development team of QuickPwn and Pwnage Tool, advised on its blog not to upgrade to iPhone firmware 2.2 until they gives green light. The team has some concerns on the upcoming firmware update. If you just upgrade it straight away on your iPhone, probably you’ll have problem to jailbreak or unlock it. So, please hold and stay tuned.

This is indeed true of the iPhone 3G’s upcoming 2.2 release. Installing ‘2.2’ straight away on the iPhone 3G using the iTunes auto-updater could affect your chances of any software unlock in the near future (should one be found and released), so when you see an update in iTunes await our instructions first!

Please don’t blindly install the update and then complain about it later.

Dear DEV team,

I have upgraded my Iphone 3G to Version 2.2 (iPhone1,2_2.2_5G77_Restore) (Modem Firmware: 02.28.00) and then jailbreak through QuickPwn22.

But now my iphone is giving problems, it tries to catch the radio signals but after some time start showing ” NO Service ” . I am using SIM-card based solution (TurboSIM) to unlock iPhone 3G.

Please help me to get rid of this problem.
