First, I admit this is not a new iPhone application and eReader has been available for quite a while in the App Store. With the release of iPhone SDK, developers are trying to pack iPhone with every kinds of applications. eReader is the one trying to transform iPhone into an eBook Reader. I have been kept tracking eReader since its release. When it was first released, the UI and functionality are just not up to standard. It’s just not the kind of applications made me feel great to share with you all. With the latest version (i.e. v1.3), however, eReader has made a great step forward and I think you can consider it as one of options for reading ebook.
The classic eReader from Fictionwise, has been available for quite a while and served as one of the popular ebook readers on Windows mobile and other smartphone platforms. For starters, eReader allows you to read eBook right on your iPhone. While other iPhone eBook reader like Stanza offers a large collection of free eBooks and magazines for download, eReader targets to provide readers with premium eBook titles from most major publishers. You can easily find book titles from authors like Stephen King, Stephen Covey, Michael Circhton, Robert T. Kiyosaki, etc. But don’t get me wrong, you can also use eReader to download free ebooks from other websites.
eReader offers an intuitive interface to let download and navigate through your ebooks. After launching eReader, it shows you the list of eBooks available for reading. You are freely to download eBook from your eReader/Fictionwise bookshelf, eReader mobile website and manybooks.net. Downloading eBooks from eReader/Fictionwise bookshelf requires a registration first. And eReader can connect directly to your account to download any available eBooks.
When reading, each page of the eBook is displayed separately on the whole iPhone screen. You can turn to next or previous page by swipping your finger (left/right) on screen. eReader also allows you to read eBook in both portrait and landscape mode. Tapping on the screen will show you a scrollbar to navigate through the eBook and other options at the bottom of screen. The lower-left icon lets you access the table of content or your bookmark. The search icon allows you to search for specific keyword. And, the lower-right icon lets you configure the settings of eReader, including font size, font type, orientation and etc.

The latest version of eReader has added many features to cater for customers’ need. You can now bookmark pages, highlighting text and adding/editing note in the ebook. To highlight text, hold and drag your finger to select the section of text. After releasing your finger, eReader will prompt you option to select. You can highlight text, adding note to that section or even look up dictionary. These are really great add-ons for any eBook readers.
Best of all, eReader is a free iPhone application and you can download it through this App Store link.
