LogoMe lets you change iPhone boot logo

Jailbreak iPhone user may remember to use QuickPwn (for Windows) or Pwnage Tool (for Mac) to replace boot logo of iPhone during jailbreak. I heard some of the jailbreak iPhone users dislike the pineapple boot logo from iPhone Dev Team and want to revert back to Apple logo. To do that, the only way is to run QuickPwn or Pwnage Tool again. That means, you have to jailbreak the iPhone one more time, simply for updating iPhone boot logo.

Now, LogoMe is out to simplify all these.

LogoMe, available through Cydia, has just been released and is designed to update boot logo without a second jailbreak. LogoMe provides an easy way to download logo image directly from the web and install it on iPhone. However, you cannot copy an image on desktop and transfer it directly to LogoMe.

Note: First thing first, to use LogoMe, your iPhone should be with firmware 2.0.2 or up.

How to change boot logo using LogoMe

1. Download and install LogoMe through Cydia. You can find the application in System section.

2. Launch LogoMe. For first time use, you’ll see LogoMe to download some necessary files.

3. Tap “Select Logo” and enter the URL for your logo image (e.g. http://www.simonblog.com/logome.png). Click “Download” and wait until complete.

4. Tap “Install Logo”. You can click “Preview” to preview the logo image. And then click “Install”. You’ll see LogoMe to flash a new firmware.

5. Once finish, power off the iPhone and start it again. You’ll see the new boot logo.

It’s really great if it works for you. But more and more people are reporting that they end up with nothing but a black screen – no boot logo at all. If that happens, don’t expect the app’s author to help you with a suggestion on what to do next. I’ve gotten no response after waiting for three days.

  • nk

it only works for the iPhone and not the itouch

  • BB

Not true nk. Im on an iPhone 3G 2.1.

I’ve researched a bunch of posts, photoshopped, sized and resized, etc., my boot logo and saved on photobucket and… NOTHING but a blank screen. When trying to upload, even at 9KB, LogoMe says the file “may be too big”.

I also paid the $5 “donation” to planetbeing and sent an email asking for his assistance. Again… NOTHING! What’s up with this? A lot of people are really frustrated.

Karl, what version of fimware are you using? LogoMe may not work with firmware 2.2. The above are tested on firmware 2.1.

  • Luxor

    LOGOME firmware 2.2

You will have noticed that logome not work on the new firmware 2.2, here’s the solution:
    left on ssh / private / var / stash / Applications / LogoMe.app / PwnmetheusBundles
you will see the different bundles but not those relating to firmware 2.2; unpack with winrar quickpwn 2.2 and the folder data / PwnmetheusBundles take the bundles related to firmware 2.2 and copy in / private / var / stash / Applications / LogoMe.app / PwnmetheusBundles.
Change the file permissions to info.plst contained in the folders and bundles, set as 755 and remove any files other than info.plst.
Reboot and enjoy LogoMe fully functional.

Yeah, LogoMe 1.0.4 for iPhone 3G fw 2.2 doesn’t work. I try to download a .png image and it does nothing. Stuck on the download screen (it does not freeze my iPhone just does nothing at this point).

Works great for me on iPhone 3g 2.2.1 Software…… Just have to make sure u preview first……. I had a problem on my first install but was because I did not preview and make sure the logo was there….For some reason the very first load of a image didn’t work correctly an I flashed… Ended up restoring my iphone… But app works great now!
