How to capture screenshot for iPhone Lock Screen

by Simon Ng on October 19, 2008

Followed the previous post about Veency, I found there is another application that you may find Veency useful. From iPhone 2.0 and onwards, taking screenshot is pretty much straightforward. You can just hold the “Home” button and press “Power/Sleep” button. You will then notice a quick flash. And, the screenshot will go into the camera roll of Photos.

However, you cannot use this technique to capture the lock screen of iPhone. I have searched in Google an d other iPhone forums. I still can’t find a good answer for that. Until I came across Veency, the application that lets you remote-control iPhone, you can now access iPhone remotely and capture the lock screen on your Windows/Mac.

Do you have any other solution for it? Leave me comment to let me and other readers know the solution.

@ Ada: is ur iphone jailbroken? if yes, go along this path /System/Library/TextInput/

then look for the file named: TextInput_en.bundle

rename it with: TextInput_en1.bundle

Done.

Ada, you can install BossPrefs and its “CToggle BossPrefs Addon” through Cydia. This will add auto-correct toggle to BossPrefs and allows you to disable auto-correct function.

There is a more “internal” way, still just as complicated as using Veency tho. The upshot, is that you don’t have a VNC server installed and running.

Obviously, you’ll need a jailbroken iPhone, and install “UIkit Tools” from Cydia. You’ll also need to have OpenSSH installed if you don’t already. Then SSH into your phone as the mobile user. Then just run the “uishoot” command, and the phone will take a screenshot the same as if you’d held down the Home & Lock/Sleep buttons.
