StatusNotifier – SMS, Email, Call notification in iPhone Status Bar

by Simon Ng on October 2, 2008

By default, iPhone displays the number of missed calls, unread email and SMS in the form of bubble. StatusNotifier is a free application that puts these status in iPhone’s status bar. So now, even you’re in the lock screen of iPhone, you know if you miss any calls / email / SMS. StatusNotifier is now available to download via Cydia and supports firmware 2.x. Installation of StatusNotifier is pretty straightforward, as long as you know how to use Cydia to install application. However, after installation, you have to reboot your iPhone in order to StatusNotifier to take effect.

StatusNotifier also works with WinterBoard to display large icon on lock screen, whenever you have missed calls, unread SMS or email. By default, this feature is not enabled automatically. You have to enable “Lock Status” in Winterboard to take effect.

Hi simon.. Thru’ internet forums, it seems there is StatusNotifier available for iphone 3G.. anyway, in cydia, will the source update itself when there is latest version of StatusNotifier?

And, sorry as i’m a newbie.. do we have to add in the source before installing an app from cydia? (what’s the advantage of doing so?). In other words, can i just install an app thru’ method: search > “StatusNotifier” ?

Please advise.
Thank you.

Looking at the lock screen I see a SMS, Missed Call and Email icon. I have three questions.

1. Is there a way to show a badge on each icon? Like the SMS icon will show a 3 on it which means 3 unread texts and 1 on the missed call to show one missed called etc?

2. I am using status notifier but when I get a missed called the original bubble or notifier built with the iphone 3g shows on the lock screen. Can I disable this and only use the notifier from Statusnotifier?

3. When a text comes in and I get a notification (sound or vibrate) is it possible for the iphone screen to light up as well. The original notification built in the iphone does it.
