Regular reader of Simon Blog may aware that it is redesigned. Coincide with TechCrunch’s redesign, Simon Blog also rolled out the new design on Aug 26. Since launch in June 2007, Simon Blog is evolved from a personal blog (talk about everything) to a blog with more focus on iPhone. I’m really glad to see more readers stumble upon Simon Blog and get their solutions about iPhone upgrade, finding out useful iPhone tips & applications. As some of the readers may know Simon Blog is run on WordPress platform, a popular blogging platform used by millions of blogs.
When I first launched Simon Blog, I turn to a Elance provider to design the original theme. The design is not very much up to my expectation. But consider the price the Elance provider offered, I really couldn’t expect too much and adopted the old design for more than a year. As the blog grows, I found the original design became less easy to manage & read. I have thought of redesign Simon Blog to make it cleaner and easier to customize. And at around the same time I plan to turn to Elance for the redesign, I stumbled upon a Thesis WordPress Theme created by Chris Pearson. Thesis theme adopts a minimalist approach and comes with great typography. And, the theme is highly customizable through WordPress’s admin interface. I love the theme so much. Now, the new design on Simon Blog is based on Thesis theme but of course, with several self-made tweaks and customization (e.g. Polls, Recommended iPhone Apps). Hope you enjoy the new design of Simon Blog.
Oops, one more thing I forget to mention is Simon Blog also comes with a new design for iPhone, which is based on WPtouch iPhone theme. Take your time and give it a shot!
