Many friends asked me to name one feature that I particularly enjoy when using iPhone. Oh! There are plenty! I like the photo browser, multi-touch screen, iPod, Safari browser…. But, as a tech. guy, I’ll consider Safari + multi-touch as the number one feature. If you have ever tried to surf the web on iPhone, you’ll be amazed by Safari’s ability. Never in the world have a mobile phone that you can browse a whole web page which is exactly the same as the one on your PC. I have tried out Internet Explorer on Windows Mobile before. It sucks! And, that is the reason why mobile Safari can easily take the lead of mobile browser usage. It is now the number one mobile browser in US and the number two globally, just behind Nokia.
As you can see, my Blog looks pretty good on iPhone. That’s the power of mobile Safari. However, it’s still not optimized for viewing on mobile Safari. Thanks for Wordpress’ plugin architecture that I can easily optimize my site for iPhone. If you are using WordPress to create your Blog, give iWPhone plugin a shot. By enabling this plugin, it will detect the type of browser accessing your blog. And, when iPhone’s Safari is detected, a specially-designed theme for iPhone is used, just like what you see at the image on the right.
It’s much cleaner and load much faster. If you have little knowledge on PHP/CSS, you can easily optimize the colour and layout of theme. iWPhone plugin is still on development, you will see more features to come.
